PRESS

May 08 - III Festival Mentes de Ácido.

Whole event review, including our gig. Thanks again to Antonio, María and rest of the organization for the good time we spent. Text and images courtesy of Mentes de Ácido.

Hi, long time without writing anything here...

Some news.

- Despite it seem the b%^$% record was never going to see the light, the mixing is finished yet. This Sunday we will make the picture session with Mariajo to finish the cover artwork (which, by the way, it is very, very nice, thanks to the help of our beloved Marc Argenter who accepted a ham as payment).

- The songs to appear are: Endless party / Anyone I love / Summer freeze / The Dolorous Knight / Dead in love / Lightning Battle. Toledo Steel felt off from the grid becouse we didn't like how it was, and decided to record again Summer freeze, this time at RecLab studios with Francesc Gosalves.

- A girlfriend of us, Laura, agreed to act as a manager to start searching for gigs and launch us to the firmament of the rock stars... meanwhile we will try not to starve.

09 Oct 06

- I think we weren't at our best at the Magic gig... wasn't to bad, though. We had some fun with dOCTOR mARTíN cLAVO, good guys (and girl). We are looking forward to bring the visit back to Mallorca.

- Big Bang Bar was better, despite we hadn't proved the sound and we didn't play with our own equipment (and despite I sincerelly hate that bloody fuckin' bar) ... some days are better than others. We did it well, I can tell.

- By the way, there were some video recordings in both concerts... we are now dealing to get copies to upload to YouTube if they are well worth.

13 Sept 06

- Confirmed a gig the 6th October at the Magic Hall (Barcelona) together with a band from Mallorca . Days before (30th Sept) we will play at Fermin's wedding party (our first singer).

10 July 06.

- Comments are activated again. Feel free to updload yours!

- Recording with Oriol is going nice. Only vocals are pending. Although this must be repeated again and again, thanks a lot to Oriol for the great time he is giving us recording with him!.

- Quim quits from our sister band Maypole. Emilio and Cristina will keep on going (with another , I presume). Quim will also collaborate with our friend Marc Argenter in his new band. This acquires special relevance for the Flashback V fans as they have not shared any new musical project since the Flashback disbanded ten years ago!

26 June 06. A bunch of news:

- This weekend July the 1st and 2nd we are entering again in the studio to record two tracks, "Battle in the Skies Lightened by Lightnings" and probably "Toledo Steel", which will be added to the other four previous tracks for the forthcoming release.

- St. Joan night (nit del foc, celebration of the Summer solstice). We were invited to play at a private party (for free) and we gladly went. This time nobody showed any interest in what we were doing, except of the friends who came with us and two or three people more, whom we sincerely thank. Obviously we had nothing to do there in an event intended to be a flat encephalogram rave party, as it happened. Never again.

- The mix and master of the four tracks recorded at Panorama is nearly finished ("Anyone I Love", "The Dolorous knight", "Endless Party" and "Dead in Love") . However we will add some organ arrangements courtesy of Octavi.

12 April 06. Et voilá!!! That's the way we fight the chicken influenza.

(Magig stage after 10th March gig. Kindly provided by Gemma)

20 March 2006. Does anybody have pictures of the performance in the Magic last 10th of March? Pls. send to the plomofanclub adress. Thanks to all of you who were there, it was the time we enjoyed more so far (sorry if you don't like strawberry jelly, next time we can use another flavour to fill the chicken, you ask).

plomoclubdefans@yahoo.es

We realize this blog is completly useless... as soon as we have the new recording we will run a decent web site... by the way, we do not have cash for a self-made recording (equipment, maily), so we are dealing with Eloi Caballé to record again at Panoramica.

23 January 2006. We announce a new recording is being prepared; we don't know yet the media but this time it will be a long play with our favourite numbers. We will count on the work of Marc Argenter as sound engineer together with our Quim.

Thanks to Sergi Garreta, the Scumm staff and the audience for the great time we had playing in Tarragona last 21st. Next time we hope there will be room for bises.

02 January 2006. New Year's Eve 2006, private party. Plomo was invited to act for a bunch of friends gathered at Marc's workshop in Sants, Barcelona. After the band warming up, once we caugth the sound (we were playing "a pelo") and we started to have fun, the gig was unpolitely interrupted by a not-nice-at-all Mosso (Catalunian policeman) with Guardia Civil vocation followed by many others, that irrupted there bravely as if they had to fight a gang of terrorist kidnappers practicing furious canibalism. Altough they were unable to probe we couldn't be there, the party was cleared in order to not to cause further trouble to the people that use the workshop.

Thanks a lot to all the people there for the warmth and support during the brief performance, we look forward to playing for you soon!

HARD TIMES, HAPPY TUNES LYRICS

ENDLESS PARTY
A story about happy or resigned zombies... you might be one of us.

Once again once again I raise my head
surrounded by a crowd of zombies from Night of the Living death.
Want to know want to know if I am wrong
Trying to get rid so hardly from the kiss of the White Worm.

Thousand arms hanging rotten flesh,
asking me to join the party “come on honey bring your body”.
Never more, not with someone of your kind,
Your peel is so attractive but your pants are full of mud, yeah.

I do know I will not find the true love here
but I don’t have anywhere else to search in.
As the leaves that the Autum drops from the trees
all my feelings will end into the bin, yeah.

Once again once again I’ll have to dance,
a guest in a everlasting party leading to nowhere.
I feel blunt hands clapping at my back,
“Welcome you are one of us you realized at once”

Think the same do the same that High Priest does,
forbidden to be bored mandatory to be glad.
How fool I was falling again in their trap
I can notice their eyes mocking madly from the dark, yeah.

I have ears but he music can not be heard.
I have eyes but there is nothing worth to see.
A silent song with an endless weird guitar riff
will drill my soul for the whole eternity, yeah.

ANYONE I LOVE
Another little song about love complexity.

Loving you is not easy
Loving me is a deed
I can not ask to anyone

Loving you is a pleasure
Loving me is a gift
I can not always recommend

Loving you is so pretty
Loving me is a thrill

I can not ask to anyone I love
I can not ask to anyone I love
I can not ask to anyone I love

The more the love
The more the trouble
The more you give is not the more you get

Can’t ask today
May be tomorrow

I can not ask to anyone I love
I can not ask to anyone I love
I can not ask to anyone I love

SUMMER FREEZE
Based on a personal Summer experience but seem through the filter of an E. A. Poe's well known tale.

Drowned in sticky sweat
Inside the walls of my room
Far is a night of bad dreams
I pray the day won´t be worse

Find myself tied to the bed
The ropes smell rancid beef
is not there a single rat
to feed so sets me free?

I wish it came
a Summer freeze
to cool down from my veins the heat

To bring again to life
this soul of mine

That keeps on dying
under the leady sun,
sent by the rage of the gods
Who have joined to bend my will

The twinkling gleam of a blade
whistling alone in the dark
sticks nails into my head
The pit shines with evil light

Hey Mr. Weatherman
please have mercy of me
when will you send the Summer freeze?

Switch off the Sun til
The end of mankind

I can afford the dark night
The Earth may spin no more time
the oceans might turn into ice
It´s the best the nice for me

THE DOLOROUS KNIGTH
A space & time mismatch. The name is from a real lay from "The Lais of Marie de France", XII century, which inspided a fantastic illustration of William Bradley.

Bring me your ears
you will hear the lay
Of the Dolorous Knigth

The silent voice of Dawn
Makes gently the question
How will you try to get back to the time you miss?

Feel trapped into a time
That belongs you no longer
How many times you´ve been told this is when you live?

You keep on insisting
There is no one to beat you
Whilst you shine your Toledo Steel,

No one will convince you
Your knigth arts are useless
In these times of guns and machines

The ladies of today
They need no protectors
How will you get then the rigth to be lying with her?

You ’re not able to find
People worthy of your lance
What kind of deeds will you run what renown will you get?

You think now retiring
To know joy of living
Apart from this bunch of villains

An old fashioned lover
Feed up of noticing
That you are the last gentleman

Please come back again
Sure we need a man
With heroism deep in vein

Help us understand
How to drive ourselves
In this iron age today

DEAD IN LOVE
Based on the Jean Rollin film "la Morte Vivante", of course about a female vampire. Song title is freely taken from a Théofile Gauthier work "La Mourte Amourouse" (1836), one of my favourite tales.

Everything run nothing but all right
In the silent peace of my cold stone bed
Why did I have to be called again?
Again to the life of my love

Now I like the dead
Much more than the living ones
Who brought me nothing
Nothing but misunderstanding

Please give me your hand
and I’ll stick my fangs in your neck
To prove you the love I
feel so badly for your blood

Won’t you have some mercy of me?
It hurts so much down here
Don’t you see this hard suffering?
I can’t stand my own fear

My nightdress made of glaring silk
Is dyed with leaden tears
Red tears will be always with me
From now towards the years

LIGHTNING BATTLE
The epic poetry of the giant robots destroying Japanese cities at its best... dedicated to the greatest one of all.

Teen girls live laughing
Day after day
Nothing worries them but
Wearing fashion trends

We first world live in peace
We can´t even suspect
Evil is comig through the air
waving the flag of death

What´s that thing flying so high that spits electric fire?
What kind of hell does he come from to destroy all that we love?
A metal monster with three heads moved by atomic power
Who the mad doctor is behind does he want to rule the world?

Army weapons are to him nothing else but toys for children
Expect no mercy sign of hate can be seen deep in his eyes
Why don´t we have another one to become our defender?
Mighty robot, where you are? Don´t you hear the call of fight?

Our peaceful city
lay now on flames
Fire from the Hell is fed
with our people flesh

When everything is lost
Appears a robot shape
Koji´s wasting time
Watching tp your breasts!

Mechanic beasties face to face what a fight is going to take place
Goods and bads in front again to decide future of Earth
Ladies and gents do sit and bet now the price is your own planet
Nothing else for you to do now you’ re in the hands of fate

Who from the robots is the best who from them all is the strongest?
Who shots fire from his chest who drops acid in his breath?
Who is the one who brings behind a sweet and lovely robot lady
To heal from the battle the wounds and become the warrior rest?

WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE?

Left to right :

Sergi (Lead Drums) : How a hardcore hardrocker as Sergi performed and toured stablely for years with such pop bands as Los Fresones Rebeldes is his best kept secret, so, so secret that he cannot even tell himself. But, happily for the Hard Rock brothership, Plomo offered him the chance he waited to hit the drums in the weird way he likes. Among his many merits it is worth to stand out he was the one who gave the band his celebrated name for his partners delight. Played in The Brew, Smoke Rings and in Motorpyscho.

Quim (Lead Bass) : From the legendary Flashback Five and many other bands from the Barcelona underground scene (such as the no less legendary Motorpsycho), he succeeded in gathering a bunch of incapable musicians to form the only real Hard Rock band in the city of the last 30 years. He also shares his musical activity with the Psycho-Progressive-Folk outfit Maypole.

Octavi (Lead Vocals) Better known by his role as organ player in bands such as Something and many others, his is the story of the guy who wanted to become a singer. Subsequently, he did not hesitate in using his well probed witchcraft skills to get rid of this antecessor in front of the group lead vocals. This explains somehow why all his suggestions are instantaneously acclaimed by the rest of the band staff no matter what they are… He also played in Motorpsycho and collaborated in many recordings.

Alfonso (Lead Guitar) : This young lad came from Bilbao, where he ran out of bands to be fired from. This only non ex-Motorpsycho member uses to write the most of the band material as his particular effort to delay as much as possible his invitation to departure, fact that lends the group sound part of its peculiar (and often misunderstood) character.

A BRIEF HISTORY

Formed by Quim in Spring ´03, who recruited Alfonso and some other three guys (Marc, Fermín and another Sergi) willing to become a Hard Rock band based on the 70´s sounds they listen, buy, collect and love.

After some line-up fixes, Sergi and Octavi join the band in Summer ´03, the group is definitively christened as Plomo and their career officially begins.

It is not until October ´04 when the band is introduced live to the public in Barcelona, playing just four (long) songs before being interrupted due to the guys exceeded the time; however, the group leaves a good taste to the audience and is established as a band to follow up.

New appearances at Barcelona (Be Good, Big Bang Bar again and twice at Magic), Torredembarra (La Traviesa) and Tarragona (Scumm), with great acceptance in all the events (except the completely forgetable St. Joan night act, of course... more info in "Plomo News").

Despite of the bizarre new year entrance (see details at "Plomo News" paragraph) , we plan 2006 to be the year for Plomo taking off. See you soon!

PLOMO JEWELS

"Es difícil que le gustemos a alguien"
Quim, 19 de octubre de 2005
